Print
Packaging is always tough. There's so many items to include, and usually not a ton of space. The widths can be fairly limiting, so fitting body copy in a way that's still legible is an interesting challenge. I decided to go with an 80s themed character and box, and Robbie the robot was the classes' favorite among the options I gave in the preliminary critique. The highlight of the piece is the illustration of the fruit and wheat along the bottom, a lot of people commented on how that is the best part of the design.
Laying Out Packaging
Laying out packaging requires a certain thought process. I needed to fit a lot of information on nonstandard sizing for text, and justified was the best option for this. I had to do a lot of configuring to get all of the rivers and gutters out of the type. I really had fun drawing the fruit, and I've been told I need to do more like that in the future.
